Terms & Conditions of Service

Privacy

  1.  We don’t keep your data, unless:
    1. You explicitly give permission and want us to keep limited information for future assistance.
    2. You elect for optional storage of drives from retired machines, data destroyed after one calendar year.
  2.  We don’t give your data to anyone.
    1. We may comply with subpoenas, warrants, or other legally required requests.
  3.  We don’t tell people what we see.
    1. If we happen to observe obviously immoral & illegal activity, we will contact law enforcement.

Warranty

  1. We warranty our labor. On the extremely rare occasion that we do something incorrectly, we will make it right.
  2. We do not warranty used or new parts; we are not a manufacturer, nor can we predict hardware failure.
  3. Many of our products come with manufacturers warranty, cost of replacement device only.
  4. We sell only products that meet our personal standards and are produced/sold by companies we trust.
  5. Third party warranties are passed to you, or we can help handle claims at shop-rate.

Diagnostic

  1. Checking things out” & “getting advice” employs our expertise. Accordingly, we may charge for Diagnostics or At-Counter Assistance.
  2. For difficult / time-consuming / obscure troubleshooting we may charge a labor fee for advanced troubleshooting.

Labor

  1.  Labor is estimated. Final labor charges are based on required time to repair.
  2.  We honor your intent: we will contact you with alternatives if repair costs exceed your expressed budget or the cost of a migration to a replacement device from a reputable source.
  3.  Cost of completed labor or parts are not absolved if you decide to halt repairs.
  4.  Our estimates, quotes, and labor charges do not cover the cost of additional labor, hardware / parts, or software incurred by the following reasons:
    1.  Unavoidable, additional damage from repair process due to poor product design or anti-repair manufacturer practices.
    2.  Undiscovered, preexisting damage.
    3.  Hardware or software failure accelerated by standard, non-destructive repair processes.
    4.  Other hardware / software failure not caused by Pinedale Computer.

Data Ownership & Account Access

  1.  By asking for account unlocks, data transfer, or data recoveries you are declaring that you have rightful access to any accounts and / or data in question.
  2.  To protect our neighbors & ourselves, we require ID for unlocks.
  3.  If it isn’t obvious that you are the account owner, we will copy your ID & store it securely.

Payment

  1.  Payment for in-shop services & other purchases are due at time of pickup or completion.
  2.  Payment for on-site services is due within 11 business days.
  3.  Other payment terms may be established in writing as agreed upon by both parties.
